February 10, 2021

Ottawa, ON — Earlier today, the Honourable Erin O’Toole, Leader of Canada’s Conservatives announced changes to the Official Opposition’s Shadow Cabinet. Perth—Wellington Member of Parliament, John Nater will now serve as Shadow Minister for Middle Class Prosperity. Nater succeeds O’Toole himself who had personally served in this role since September 2020.

“Now, more than ever, Canadians are worried about their economic future. The COVID-19 pandemic has seen far too many Canadians fall behind” said Nater. He added, “our economic recovery must be a recovery for all sectors in all regions. I am confident that under Erin O’Toole’s leadership, we will secure our economic recovery and secure the future. Much of the work that I undertook during my time as Shadow Minister for Rural Economic Development will apply to my new responsibilities. In particular, long-term prosperity in our rural communities cannot be achieved without access to reliable, high-speed internet.”

In the months and weeks to come, Nater looks forward to hearing from Canadians across the country on ideas and suggestions to secure a comprehensive economic recovery for our economy.

Nater concluded by stating: “As always, my number one priority will be the residents of Perth—Wellington. The Shadow Cabinet responsibilities, which I am honoured to undertake, will not distract from my efforts to ensure the concerns of our community are heard in Ottawa.”
